Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The Russian, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult season, managing just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the US Open.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-term trainer Cervara.
Presently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive win over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This marks his initial championship since the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface after March of 2023.
The win also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one different events.
"For the first time I have attended a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is particularly special," commented tennis professional Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my child her name was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had lost his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.
The player's defensive play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had led observers to wonder if his ability to play at the highest level was finished.
But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform assertively, supported by an better serve.
The champion fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five games to go ahead.
Both players traded service breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his initial professional title, gained dominance to force a final set.
The opponent saved four early-game chances in a close third set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.
Appropriately, the winner secured the win with a point at the net, with the Frenchman failing to control a volley after a lengthy match.
